Florida scored five touchdowns within a 12-minute span in the second quarter and coasted to a 55-14 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.

The blowout victory sets up a clash with South Carolina next Saturday in Gainesville to determine the winner of the SEC East. Two weeks ago, that seemed like a longshot for Florida, which had lost three games in a row. But with two straight conference wins, Florida now is in position to advance to the SEC championship for the third time in four years. Florida improves to 6-3, 4-3 while Vanderbilt drops to 1-5, 2-7.

Taking a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, the Gators scored on offense, defense and special teams to take a 41-0 lead into halftime. John Brantley threw for two touchdowns and Mike Gillislee ran for two more as the Gators scored their most points of the year. It was total domination by the Gators who outgained the Commodores 490-109 and racked up 25 first downs compared to 7 for Vanderbilt.

Brantley completed 11 of 18 passes for 156 yards and backup wildcat quarterback Jordan Reed threw for 131 yards and ran for 90 and two total touchdowns. Chris Rainey led the Gators with four catches for 75 yards.

Florida did little wrong on Saturday but did have 11 penalties and two turnovers.
