Nate Freese kicked three field goals and the Boston College defense blanked Clemson for the final three quarters, as the Eagles posted a 16-10 victory over the Tigers in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Saturday.
Clemson (4-4, 2-3 ACC) scored all 10 of its points in the first quarter and did not manage an offensive touchdown the entire day.
The Tigers took a 7-0 lead on a 54-yard interception return for a touchdown by Rashard Hall just over two minutes into the game. Chandler Catanzaro kicked a 31-yard field goal about nine minutes later to give Clemson a 10-3 lead, but that was all for the scoring for the Tigers.
Freese made a 22-yarder in the first quarter and cut the deficit to 10-6 with a 27-yard field goal early in the second quarter. The Eagles took the lead on a 36-yard touchdown pass from Chase Rettig to Montel Harris with 8:25 left in the first half.
Freese made his final field goal, from 36-yards out, with :38 seconds left in the second quarter. Neither team managed any points in the second half.
Harris, who scored the only offensive touchdown of the game, led Boston College (3-5, 1-4) with 144 yards rushing on 37 carries.
