Baylor rolled to a 55-7 victory over Kansas on Saturday afternoon to open Big 12 play.
Robert Griffin III passed for 394 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. Josh Gordon and Terrance Williams each had two touchdown receptions.
Griffin dominated the KU defense from the start. On the Bears’ fifth offensive play of the day, Griffin hooked up with Gordon for a 39-yard touchdown pass to give Baylor a 7-0 lead.
After a 37-yard field goal from Aaron Jones, Baylor (4-1, 1-0) then extended its lead to 17-0 on a one-yard touchdown run from Griffin.
The Jayhawks (2-3, 0-1) showed some life early in the second quarter, as quarterback Jordan Webb found Daymond Patterson on a 19-yard touchdown pass.
But Kansas simply couldn’t keep up with Baylor’s offense all day.
With 4:22 left in the first half, Griffin completed a short pass to Gordon, who broke a tackle and sprinted 94 yards to the end zone for the longest pass play in school history.
In the second half, the Bears didn’t slow down. They outscored the Jayhawks 28-0, highlighted by a touchdown pass from wide receiver Kendall Wright on a trick play.
