Chris Relf rushed for 97 yards and threw for 135 yards and a touchdown, and Mississippi State's defense shut down Georgia in a 24-12 victory Saturday in Starkville, Miss.

Relf's 33-yard touchdown pass to Arceto Clark capped a 10-play, 93-yard drive and gave Mississippi State a 17-6 lead with 4:36 left.

Vick Ballard ran for 77 yards on 14 carries for Mississippi State, scoring on a 13-yard run in the first quarter and a 1-yard plunge in the fourth.

Mississippi State's defense forced two turnovers and didn't allow a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter, sending Georgia to its first three-game losing streak since 1990 and first 0-3 start in Southeastern Conference play since 1993.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron Murray completed 19 of 32 passes for 294 yards and hooked up with Tavarres King on a 40-yard touchdown pass with 1:27 left.

Georgia (1-3, 0-3) played without star receiver A.J. Green, who served the last of his four-game NCAA suspension.

Mississippi State (2-2, 1-2) earned its first win against Georgia since 1974, snapping a nine-game losing streak against the Bulldogs.
