Stampeders 19, Tiger-Cats 18: Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 342 yards and a touchdown as Calgary rallied to win its 15th straight regular-season home game against Hamilton.
Mitchell completed 24-of-40 passes in his third game back after missing two months with a torn pectoral muscle and Eric Rogers hauled in the go-ahead touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for the Stampeders (8-4), who moved within two points of first place in the West Division with their third straight victory. Rogers finished with eight catches for 129 yards, Reggie Begelton gained 106 yards on six receptions and Tre Roberson blocked Lirim Hajrullahu's potential go-ahead field goal in the final minute to preserve the win.
Dane Evans was 34-of-43 for 360 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception as East Division-leading Hamilton (9-3) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end and fell to 2-28 at Calgary since 1989. Bralon Addison had eight receptions for 114 yards to lead the Tiger-Cats while Brandon Banks hauled in eight passes for 105 yards and a score.
Hajrullahu booted 25- and 22-yard field goals to give Hamilton a 6-0 advantage and Banks hauled in a short pass before weaving 30 yards for a score early in the second quarter as the Tiger-Cats stretched their lead to 14-3. Roberson picked off a pass by Evans inside the Calgary 10 and Rene Paredes followed with his second field goal - this one from 49 yards - but Hajrullahu answered with a 45-yarder on the final play of the first half for a 17-6 lead.
Paredes connected again from 17 yards out and added a 20-yarder after Brandon Smith (eight tackles) recovered a fumble by Banks, but he later missed a 35-yard attempt as the Stampeders entered the final quarter trailing 18-12. Mitchell connected with Rogers for a 15-yard scoring strike with 6:34 remaining to cap an eight-play drive as Calgary took its first lead at 19-18 and held on as Hajrullahu's 42-yard field-goal attempt was blocked.
