Blue Bombers 29, Redblacks 14: Chris Streveler rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw for another as visiting Winnipeg overcame the loss of starting quarterback Matt Nichols to beat Ottawa.

Nichols completed 16-of-20 passes for 262 yards and a touchdown before suffering a suspected concussion midway through the third quarter while Andrew Harris accounted for 130 yards from scrimmage as the Blue Bombers improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2014. Streveler was 6-of-8 with a TD toss to Drew Wolitarsky while Nic Demski caught four passes for 105 yards and a score.

Dominique Davis threw for 234 yards on 21-of-36 passing with two interceptions for the Redblacks, who dropped their first game after winning their previous two. R.J. Harris finished with six receptions for 87 yards and Jonathan Rose recorded a defensive touchdown for Ottawa, which was penalized 10 times for 110 yards.

Demski hauled in an 82-yard touchdown pass from Nichols to put the Blue Bombers in front 7-0, and the lead could have been higher, but Justin Medlock missed a pair of field-goal attempts. Lewis Ward converted a 53-yarder to pull the Redblacks within 8-4 before Streveler found Wolitarsky for a 2-yard touchdown to stretch Winnipeg's advantage to 11 points at intermission.

Streveler scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak as the Blue Bombers pulled ahead 22-4 before Ward booted a 42-yard field goal and Rose returned a fumble 39 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter to cut the deficit to eight. Medlock recovered his own punt to set up a 1-yard TD run by Streveler two plays later, which restored the Blue Bombers' double-digit lead with 9:19 remaining, and they cruised the rest of the way to remain the only unbeaten team in the CFL.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nichols surpassed 17,000 passing yards for his career. … Ward extended his streak of successful field goals to 59 in a row, which is the longest in professional football. … Streveler gained 44 yards on 11 carries. … Ottawa WR Dominique Rhymes caught six passes for 58 yards.
