Roughriders 32, Argonauts 7: Cody Fajardo threw for a career-high 430 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Saskatchewan routed visiting Toronto on a soggy Canada Day.

Fajardo completed 24-of-31 passes and also ran for a score in his second start after Zach Collaros went down with an injury in the season opener for the Roughriders (1-2). Kyran Moore caught four passes for 127 yards and a touchdown while Shaquelle Evans gained 112 yards on five receptions to help Saskatchewan, which has won six straight regular-season meetings with the Argonauts.

James Franklin was 20-of-28 for 224 yards with one touchdown but was intercepted twice as Toronto lost its second straight game to open the season. James Wilder Jr. gained 99 yards from scrimmage, Derel Walker recorded a team-high 56 receiving yards on one catch and Llevi Noel had six receptions for 31 yards and a TD for the Argonauts, who lost 64-14 to Hamilton in their opener on June 22.

Brett Lauther booted a pair of field goals (20 and 33 yards) to give the Roughriders the lead before Derrick Moncrief's interception led to Fajardo hitting Moore in stride for a 98-yard scoring strike on the final play of the first quarter. Fajardo connected with Cory Watson for a 5-yard touchdown and found the end zone from 1 yard out to push the lead to 26 points, but Franklin's 12-yard scoring pass to Noel with 16 seconds left in the half closed the gap to 26-7.

Toronto's touchdown came just after a weather delay of more than two hours, but the team could not carry that momentum into the second half as it punted three times in the third quarter and had its fourth drive halted when Nick Marshall picked off Franklin early in the fourth. Lauther added field goals from 21 and 45 yards to increase the lead to 25 and Saskatchewan's defense shut the door from there, finishing with four sacks.
