Roughriders 24, Tiger-Cats 19: Cody Fajardo threw for 313 yards and ran for the go-ahead touchdown with 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift host Saskatchewan past Hamilton.
Fajardo completed 25-of-31 passes and added 56 yards on the ground for the Roughriders (4-3), who avenged a 23-17 loss to the Tiger-Cats in Week 1. Shaq Evans hauled in seven passes for 160 yards while William Powell rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown for Saskatchewan, which has won three straight games.
Dane Evans completed 19-of-29 for 196 yards and a touchdown for the Tiger-Cats (5-2), who played their first game without injured quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. Luke Tasker caught five passes for 77 yards and Anthony Coombs recorded a touchdown reception for Hamilton, which had won its previous three games against West Division opponents in 2019.
Lirim Hajrullahu drilled 48-yard field goal to put the Tiger-Cats in front 3-1 before the Roughriders answered with a 1-yard touchdown run from Powell to take a 7-3 late in the first quarter. Ferraro (30 yards) and Hajrullahu (22) traded field goals before Saskatchewan's first-year kicker made a 40-yard attempt with 5:16 left in the second quarter to give the home side a 13-6 lead at intermission.
Hajrullahu knocked through a 48-yard attempt and Coombs caught a 13-yard touchdown, which capped a 10-play, 93-yard drive to put Hamilton back on top 16-13 with one second left in the third quarter. Hajrullahu kicked his fourth field goal of the game to double the Tiger-Cats' advantage with 7:38 remaining before Ferraro responded with a 31-yarder to pull Saskatchewan within three with 2:47 to go and Fajardo reached over the pylon before going out of bounds to win it for the hosts with a 5-yard TD run.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Saskatchewan traded QB Zach Collaros, who's been out with a concussion since the first game of the season, to the Toronto Argonauts on Wednesday in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft. … Hamilton WR Brandon Banks, who came into the game leading the CFL in receptions (42) and receiving yards (554), was sidelined with an undisclosed injury. … Roughriders LB Solomon Elimimian made seven tackles to move past Greg Battle (766) for 7th place on the CFL's all-time list. … Shaq Evans surpassed 100 receiving yards for the fourth time in his last six games.
