Lions 26, Argonauts 23: Jonathon Jennings threw for 199 yards and a touchdown as host BC staved off a late comeback attempt by Toronto to remain in the thick of the playoff hunt in the West Division.
Jennings completed 14-of-24 passes and added 47 rushing yards for the Lions (7-7), who moved into a fourth-place tie with Edmonton in the battle for the crossover playoff spot. Jeremiah Johnson gained 118 yards on 19 carries while Cory Watson made four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown for BC, which improved to 6-1 at home.
McLeod Bethel-Thompson was limited to 97 yards on 11-of-18 passing with one touchdown and four interceptions before being benched in the third quarter for the Argonauts (3-11), who dropped their sixth consecutive contest. James Franklin was 9-of-14 with scoring tosses to Duron Carter and Myles White, but Toronto fell to 0-7 on the road.
Jennings fired a 14-yard touchdown pass to Watson to open the scoring and Ty Long connected on 43-yard field goal to help put the Lions on top 11-0 early in the second quarter. Bethel-Thompson found Llevi Noel for a 5-yard TD to close the gap, but Long drilled 50- and 51-yard kicks in the final 1:17 to give BC a 20-10 halftime advantage.
The Lions thought they had increased their lead to 17 points, only to see a holding penalty nullify Chris Rainey's electrifying 52-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the third quarter, before Long converted two more attempts in the fourth to stretch BC's advantage to 26-10. Franklin threw scoring strikes to Carter (20 yards) and White (5) two minutes apart in the latter stages to get Toronto within three points, but Zackary Medeiros' onside kick with 36 seconds remaining landed out of bounds.
