Bethel-Thompson was 25-of-37 and added 54 yards on the ground as the Argonauts (2-5) erased a 24-point deficit to end their three-game skid. S.J. Green hauled in nine passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns, James Wilder Jr. accounted for 115 yards from scrimmage and short-yardage quarterback James Franklin added a pair of rushing TDs for Toronto.
Trevor Harris completed 27-of-35 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns while Dominique Davis rushed for a score for the Redblacks (4-3), who led 38-14 late in the third quarter. Diontae Spencer made eight catches for 145 yards and a TD to go along with a special-teams score while Brad Sinopoli had seven receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown for Ottawa, which saw its modest two-game winning streak come to an end.
Sinopoli made a leaping 17-yard TD and Brendan Gillanders ran for the 2-point conversion to open the scoring before Martese Jackson's 46-yard punt return led to Franklin's 1-yard scoring plunge that pulled Toronto within one point after one quarter. The Redblacks took control by scoring 21 straight points as Davis found the end zone on a 1-yard quarterback sneak, Anthony Cioffi recovered a muffed punt for a touchdown and Spencer caught a 17-yard TD pass en route to 28-7 lead at intermission.
Bethel-Thompson threw a 5-yard scoring pass to Green early in the third quarter before Lewis Ward kicked a 17-yard field goal and Spencer returned a punt 87 yards for a touchdown to help Ottawa pull ahead 38-14. Franklin rushed for a 1-yard touchdown late in the third and Green made an 11-yard TD catch early in the fourth to close the gap to 38-26 before Wilder turned a screen pass into a 20-yard score with 3:09 remaining, and Bethel-Thompson avoided a sack to throw a perfect strike to Edwards to win it.
