Masoli completed 23-of-35 passes and Alex Green rushed for 140 yards on 13 carries in his CFL debut as the Tiger-Cats (3-9) registered their first victory in Vancouver since 2011. Luke Tasker hauled in seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown while Brandon Banks had a TD reception for Hamilton.

Jonathon Jennings finished 22-of-33 for 345 yards and rushed for a touchdown, but the Lions (6-7) suffered their fifth defeat in six games. Jeremiah Johnson rushed for 91 yards and added another 87 receiving for BC, which is in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 1996.

The Tiger-Cats struck first as Banks caught a 19-yard touchdown pass before Jennings found the end zone on a 2-yard quarterback sweep and hit Bryan Burnham for the two-point conversion to put the Lions in front 8-7. Ty Long made a 17-yard chip shot to give BC an 11-8 lead before Castillo connected on a 53-yarder as the second quarter expired to even the contest.

Masoli rolled to his right and fired a 15-yard touchdown strike to Tasker to put Hamilton back on top 18-14 before Long kicked a 10-yard field goal to pull the Lions within one heading into the fourth quarter. Long tacked on a pair of field goals (45, 20 yards) to give BC a slim 23-21 lead with 1:57 remaining before Castillo kept his nerve in the waning seconds to help Hamilton snap a seven-game road losing streak against West Division opponents.
