Stampeders 21, Lions 17: Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 237 yards and Rene Paredes kicked five field goals as visiting Calgary held off BC to notch its fourth straight win.

Mitchell was 15-of-31 and finished without a touchdown pass for the first time in 18 games as the Stampeders (6-1-1) moved within one point of West Division-leading Edmonton. Jerome Messam rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown before suffering a leg injury in the fourth quarter for Calgary, which survived 15 penalties for 150 yards.

Jonathon Jennings completed 26-of-38 passes for 240 yards and accounted for two touchdowns but threw two interceptions for the Lions (5-4), who have dropped three of their last four games. Chris Rainey caught a TD pass and Manny Arceneaux made 10 catches for 89 yards for BC, which has committed 11 turnovers in its last two contests.

Paredes connected on field goals from 38, 29, and 17 yards as the Stampeders capitalized on two turnovers to take a 9-0 lead after the first quarter. Jennings scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak and then zipped a pass to Chris Williams for the 2-point conversion with 1:11 left in the second quarter to trim the deficit to 9-8 at halftime.

Jennings found Rainey for a 20-yard touchdown to cap a seven-play, 75-yard drive as the Lions took their first lead at 14-12 before Messam powered his way into the end zone from 1 yard out on the first play of the fourth quarter to put the Stampeders back on top 18-14. Ty Long converted a 28-yard kick to pull BC within one near the midway point of the fourth before Paredes nailed a 27 yarder, and Calgary stopped the Lions on third down at the Stampeders' 25-yard line with 16 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lions WRs Bryan Burnham (leg) and Nick Moore (hip), who have combined to make 60 catches for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns, were late scratches. … Messam surpassed 5,000 career rushing yards with a 15-yard gain in the third quarter. … Calgary has won 15 straight games following a bye week.
