Roughriders 31, Tiger-Cats 20: Brandon Bridge threw for 165 yards and a touchdown as visiting Saskatchewan scored 24 second-half points en route to completing a season sweep of Hamilton.
Bridge completed 17-of-22 passes while Marcus Thigpen rushed 80 yards for a touchdown as the Roughriders (3-2) beat Hamilton for the fifth consecutive time. Naaman Roosevelt caught four passes for 43 yards and a TD while Christion Jones added a special-teams score for Saskatchewan, which downed the Tiger-Cats 18-13 on July 5.
Jeremiah Masoli was limited to 184 yards on 20-of-28 passing as his streak of consecutive 300-yard games ended at nine - one short of a new CFL record - while the Tiger-Cats (2-3) missed a chance to take sole possession of first place in the East Division. John White added 55 rushing yards and a touchdown while Frankie Williams returned a punt for a score.
Brett Lauther kicked a 28-yard field goal to open the scoring before White's 6-yard touchdown scamper put Hamilton in front after one quarter. Williams electrified the crowd with a 98-yard TD return to extend the Tiger-Cats' lead to 14-3, and they settled for a 17-7 halftime advantage following a 42-yard field goal from Lirim Hajrullahu.
The Roughriders exploded for 21 points in the third quarter as Thigpen sped away for his score, Roosevelt hauled in a 24-yard TD pass and Jones returned a punt 61 yards for a touchdown to put the team ahead 28-20. Lauther converted a 35-yard attempt with 9:27 remaining in the fourth quarter to make it a two-possession game and Saskatchewan forced two late turnovers to earn its first road victory of the season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hamilton WR Luke Tasker was a late scratch due to an undisclosed injury. …Thigpen's touchdown run was the longest by a Saskatchewan player since Pete Van Valkenburg's 90-yard score in 1976. … Roughriders DE Charleston Hughes recorded his league-leading sixth sack, which moved him into a tie with Rodney Harding (105) for 10th place on the CFL's all-time list. … Saskatchewan RB Jerome Messam gained 70 yards on 15 carries.
