Myles Dread made the tying 3-pointer in the waning seconds of overtime and knocked down four free throws late in the second extra session to guide Penn State to a 90-86 win over visiting Iowa on Monday evening in University Park, Pa.

John Harrar had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Seth Lundy registered 17 and 11 for the Nittany Lions (9-9, 4-6 Big Ten), who avenged a 68-51 road loss to the Hawkeyes nine days earlier. Greg Lee contributed 16 points in this one, while Jalen Pickett had 13 and Dread 12 for Penn State.

Iowa (14-7, 4-6) tied the game in spectacular fashion at the regulation buzzer on a tip-in by Keegan Murray, who finished with a game-high 21 points. Patrick McCaffery chipped in 16 points for the Hawkeyes, while Connor McCaffery had 12.

Penn State led 83-82 midway through the second OT when Sam Sessoms' layup ignited a 5-1 mini-burst that included two Dread foul shots with 12 seconds to play. Murray made things interesting with a late 3-pointer, but Dread made two more free throws to seal the win.

Down two in the final seconds of regulation, Iowa tied the game on a superb effort by Murray. Jordan Bohannon came up short on a 3-pointer, but Murray -- while being boxed out under the hoop -- twisted his body and tipped the airball into the basket as the horn sounded.

Murray opened overtime with another bucket and then converted a second-chance layup to put Iowa ahead 74-73 with 2:14 remaining. After Penn State briefly slipped back in front, Ahron Ulis made four free throws to give the Hawkeyes a three-point edge.

However, Dread knocked down a contested 3-pointer with 9.1 seconds to play to force the second extra session.

Iowa led 53-51 with 11 minutes to play in regulation before going ice cold, scoring only two points over the next seven minutes. However, Penn State could not generate much offense either, and Murray's two free throws brought the visitors within 59-57 with 3:55 left.

The Nittany Lions then pushed their advantage to 65-59, but Murray's 3-pointer and Patrick McCaffery's layup brought the Hawkeyes within one with 13 seconds left. Sessoms made 1 of 2 foul shots to create a two-point edge, setting the stage for Murray's amazing tip-in.
