Ian DuBose and Jonah Antonio, a pair of graduate transfers, propelled Wake Forest to a 71-60 victory against visiting Longwood on Friday night at Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.

DuBose, who previously played for Houston Baptist, and Antonio, a transfer from UNLV, pumped in 14 points apiece. Antonio, who came off the bench, was 4-for-6 on 3-pointers, with the rest of the Wake Forest team a combined 2-for-14.

A 16-2 second-half stretch sparked the Demon Deacons (2-0), who trailed 43-38. The rally began with a 3-pointer from Antonio and later Antonio contributed to the outburst with two more 3s in a 24-second span. The spurt was capped by DuBose's basket, pushing the lead to 54-45 and spoiling the Lancers' opener.

Daivien Williamson, also a transfer who came aboard from first-year coach Steve Forbes' former team (East Tennessee State), made an impact with six straight Wake Forest points in the final six minutes. He ended up with eight points.

Reserve Jahcobi Neath added 12 points and Ismael Massoud had 10 points for the Demon Deacons. DuBose supplied team highs with five assists and four rebounds.

Juan Munoz led Longwood with 13 points and seven rebounds. He shot 2-for-5 from 3-point range, extending his streak of at least one made 3-pointer to 19 games.

Justin Hill's 11 points and Christian Wilson's nine points also helped the Lancers.

Wake Forest had a few droughts from the field in the first half, but took advantage of free throws -- going 17-for-22 from the foul line for the game. Longwood used a 7-2 run late in the first half to forge a 34-34 tie at the break.

Longwood finished the game with a 30-21 rebounding advantage.

Wake Forest opened the season with a 60-point rout of Delaware State on Wednesday. Longwood's scheduled opener set for Thursday afternoon against Delaware State was cancelled because of coronavirus concerns involving the Delaware State team.
