Desmond Bane scored 25 points as Texas Christian overcame a slow start to pull away from Louisiana 98-65 in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.

RJ Nembhard added 16 points and led a late first-half surge that put the Horned Frogs (2-0) in control. PJ Fuller and Edric Dennis came off the bench to score 15 and 14 points, respectively. Kevin Samuel had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Jaire Grayer added 11 points.

Jalen Johnson scored 21 points to lead the Ragin' Cajuns (2-1), who were playing their first road game. Cedric Russell scored 18 points, but left the game after being injured early in the second half. Mylik Wilson scored 16.

The Frogs held a 42-31 rebounding advantage and their bench outscored the Louisiana subs 29-2 as they moved head coach Jamie Dixon within two wins of 400 for his career.

Bane scored four points and Nembhard made a 3-pointer as TCU quickly extended its 52-38 halftime lead to 20 points.

The lead grew to 22 before the Cajuns chipped away and Wilson's 3-pointer cut the lead to 63-51.

Samuel scored 10 points as the Frogs increased their lead to 82-59 with six minutes remaining. The margin continued to grow as the Frogs' superior depth continued to show.

The game was part of the MGM Resorts Main Event. On Nov. 21, Louisiana will visit Wyoming and TCU will host UC Irvine before both teams travel to Las Vegas to play two games between Nov. 24-26.

Bane's 3-pointer gave TCU its first lead at 14-13, but Russell made back-to-back 3-pointers for Louisiana.

Another 3-pointer by Russell gave the Cajuns their biggest lead to that point at 27-21 midway through the half.

Louisiana went cold and the Frogs made three 3-pointers during an 11-0 run.

Russell's 3-pointer ended the run, but TCU followed with two more 3-pointers to take a 40-30 lead.

Johnson ended that run with a 3-pointer, but Nembhard scored 10 of TCU's last 12 points as they took a 52-38 halftime lead.
