The Buffaloes (6-0) won despite committing 19 turnovers and making only three field goals in the last 10:50 of regulation.

Colorado did not have a double-digit scorer until Evan Battey made a layup with 2:54 left to give him 11 points. The shot was part of seven unanswered points that gave Colorado a 52-40 lead.

Battey finished with 11 points and six rebounds. McKinley Wright had 10 points.

Sacramento State (4-1) entered the game No. 2 in the nation in field goal percentage defense (31.9 percent) and 3-point percentage defense (19 percent).

The Buffaloes did not suffer much from their turnovers as Sacramento State scored only 12 points off of them. The Hornets did not take advantage of shooting 15 more field goal attempts than Colorado.

The Buffaloes' defense limited the Hornets to 28.3 percent shooting from the field and 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Sacramento State's Joshua Patton, a senior center who averaged 18.5 points a game entering the game, went scoreless until he made a layup with 4:04 left to cut the lead to 45-40. He finished with four points.

Colorado, which led for all but the first minute of the game, followed Patton's shot with its 7-0 run to pull away.

Patton had three blocked shots to give him 154 in his career, a new Sacramento State record.

Neither team had a scorer in double figures until 12:02 remained when Sacramento State's Ethan Esposito made a putback to give him 11 points and cut Colorado's lead to 39-32.
