Buddy Boeheim had 17 points and six rebounds, and Elijah Hughes added 14 points and a career-high eight assists as host Syracuse beat Colgate 70-54 on Wednesday, extending its winning streak in the series to 54 games.

Bourama Sidibe had 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Boeheim and Hughes made three 3-pointers apiece for the Orange, who rebounded after scoring only 34 points in a season-opening loss to defending national champion Virginia on Nov. 6.

Jordan Burns had 12 points on four 3-pointers, and Bowling Green transfer Nelly Cummings had 10 points and a pair of threes for the perimeter-oriented Raiders, the defending Patriot League regular-season and tournament champion.

Syracuse shot 50.9 percent from the field after making 23.6 percent in the 48-34 loss to Virginia, the Orange's fewest points in a game since the 1944-45 season.

Marek Dolezaj had all of his seven points and Joseph Girard III and Hughes had 3-pointers during a 22-4 run that spanned the first and second halves for a 46-28 lead with 12:22 remaining. Colgate made one of its first 14 field-goal attempts in the second half.

The Orange, who led by as many as 24, had 34 points in the paint and 27 points off 15 Colgate turnovers.

Colgate shot 30 percent and did most of its damage from outside, making 13 of 41 3-point attempts. Six Raiders made at least one 3-pointer, and five made two or more. The visitors were 5 of 19 on two-point attempts.

Raiders 6-foot-10 senior Rapolas Ivanauskas, the defending Patriot League player of the year, had five points on 2-of-10 shooting. He did contribute nine rebounds and six assists.

Syracuse missed its first eight field-goal attempts, reminiscent of the season opener in which it had two points in the first nine minutes, before finding its offense. Boeheim had 10 points and Sidibe had eight points when the Orange broke from a tie at 24 for a 31-25 halftime lead.

Syracuse's 54-game winning streak is the series that dates to 1902 is the longest among any two opponents in NCAA history.
