Guard DJ Vasiljevic matched his season high with five 3-pointers on his way to 21 points as Miami led from start to finish for an 80-65 victory over Georgia Tech in Atlantic Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon in Coral Gables, Fla.

Vasiljevic was one of four players in double figures for the Hurricanes (12-14, 4-10 ACC), who won for the third time in their last five games. Center Ebuku Izundu scored 18, guard Anthony Lawrence 16, and guard Chris Lykes 11. Lawrence finished with 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

Guard Jose Alvarado led the Yellow Jackets (12-16, 4-11 ACC) with 20 points. Forward Moses Wright added 19 and guard Michael Devoe 13.

After shooting only 33.3 percent in the first half, the Yellow Jackets started the second 8 of 9 from the field but could trim no more than five points off of a 16-point halftime deficit, getting to within 51-40 in the first six minutes.

But the Hurricanes got their lead back up to 18 points, 61-43, on guard Zach Johnson's steal and breakaway dunk less than three minutes later. Miami's lead reached 20 points at 72-52 on Izundu's breakaway dunk with 4:12 left in the game.

Miami ended up shooting 46.6 percent from the field for the game, Georgia Tech 43.1

Miami took command early, getting off to a quick 7-0 start and holding a trio of 17-point leads, the last on Lawrence's free throws that made it 34-17 with 5:01 left in the first half.

The Hurricanes were 12 of 20 from the field at that point to Georgia Tech's 7 of 20. T

The Yellow Jackets managed to narrow the Hurricanes' lead to 11 points, 34-23, on Alvarado's 3-pointer at the 1:22 mark, but the Hurricanes scored the final five points. Lawrence's corner 3-pointer with two seconds left gave Miami a 39-23 advantage at the intermission.

It marked the 10th time this season that the Yellow Jackets scored 25 or fewer points in the first 20 minutes.
