Desmond Bane scored 27 points to lead four players in double figures Wednesday night as Texas Christian rallied in the second half for a Big 12 Conference win it had to have, dumping Iowa State 89-83 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Alex Robinson added 18 points and six assists for the Horned Frogs (19-9, 7-8 Big 12), which avoided a bad loss that could have damaged their NCAA tournament at-large hopes. Kouat Noi tallied 17 points, and Vladimir Brodziansky chipped in with 14.

Donovan Jackson poured in 27 points for the Cyclones (13-14, 4-11), who have lost starters Nick Weiler-Babb and Solomon Young to season-ending injuries and used just seven players Wednesday. Cameron Lard and Lindell Wigginton each scored 14, while Zoran Talley Jr. added 12 points.

TCU trailed by six points at halftime, but shot 66.7 percent in the second half to finish the night at 57.9 percent. The Horned Frogs also earned a 34-26 advantage on the glass, enabling them to withstand 15 turnovers that cost them 17 points.

TCU took the lead for good when Brodziansky canned two free throws with 9:43 left for a 68-67 edge. That started an 8-0 run that Noi capped by sinking his third 3-pointer of the night to make it 74-67 at the 8:45 mark.

Both teams got off to fast starts offensively, swapping the lead for about the first eight minutes before Iowa State established control.

Terrence Lewis drilled a 3-pointer at the 12:18 mark to give the Cyclones a 21-18 lead that they kept for the half's remainder. It started a 10-3 burst that Lard capped with a layup with 10:17 left, making it 28-21.

When Jackson converted a 3 with 7:14 remaining in the half, Iowa State owned a 36-25 advantage and was on pace to easily score more than 100 points.

But TCU pushed back, drawing within three points before a 3-pointer from Jakolby Long with 36 seconds left gave the Cyclones a 47-41 edge they carried into intermission.
