Kansas State built a big lead and then coasted to a 72-54 victory over Boston College on Friday in the semifinals of the Barclays Center Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Wildcats advanced to play in the championship Saturday night.

Kansas State (5-0) was led by Xavier Sneed with 16 points. Dean Wade and Barry Brown had 11 points apiece.

Boston College (3-2) was led by Ky Bowman with 13 points. Jerome Robinson and Connar Tava had 11 each.

Kansas State shot much better in the second half than it did in the first, connecting on 57.7 percent (15 of 26). The biggest difference was behind the three-point line, where the Wildcats were 7 of 13, compared to 0 of 10 in the first half. The Eagles continued to struggle, hitting only 37 percent (10 of 27) in the second half.

The Wildcats pulled away early in the second half, using a 21-13 run to open up a 17-point lead.

The Eagles tried to chip away at the lead, using a 9-2 run to cut it to 10 points. But they could get no closer.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half. The Wildcats hit just 34.5 percent (10 of 29) from the field. They were led by Brown with eight points, and Wade, Sneed and Isaiah Maurice with six each.

Boston College was even worse, connecting on just 29.2 percent (7 of 24). The Eagles were led by Robinson and Bowman with six points each.

K-State used a 9-0 run to slowly pull away in the first half. A Boston College bucket at the 12:59 mark tied the score at 7-7. By the time Robinson hit the first of two free throws at the 8:28 mark, K-State led 16-8.

Boston College managed to cut the deficit to 20-17. But the Wildcats answered with six straight to grab their largest lead of the half to that point. The Cats led 31-22 at halftime.
