DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke is counting on rebounding from various sources with a smaller lineup and there's no shortage of contributors in that area.

The sixth-ranked Blue Devils limited William & Mary's second-chance opportunities in pulling away for an 88-67 victory on Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

"We've been rebounding pretty well because our perimeter (players have) been," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We've talked about that with more (guards) playing that we have to pay more attention to that."

Frank Jackson poured in 19 points and Grayson Allen added 17 points as Duke opened a season-long, four-game homestand.

Forward Amile Jefferson's 15 points and 10 rebounds and guard Luke Kennard's 11 points gave Duke (5-1) a boost, and guard Matt Jones had 10 points.

William & Mary shot 43.4 percent from the field, but the Tribe pulled in only four offensive rebounds (off 30 misses). Three Duke guards had four defensive rebounds apiece.

"That's one of the things the coaches have really emphasized to the perimeter players," Kennard said of the rebounding.

Jefferson, who was the only non-guard in the starting lineup, said the rebounding from the guards has benefits for the Blue Devils at both ends of the court.

"When they're hitting the glass, it makes our team that much better because they can just hit the glass and go (in transition)," Jefferson said.

Duke held a 39-25 rebounding advantage. That was significant because Duke was outrebounded by a total of seven across the last three games combined.

Jackson, a freshman guard, led the Blue Devils in scoring for the third time this season. He and Allen, a guard, each made three 3-pointers.

"We're just not at their level," William & Mary coach Tony Shaver said. "That would have taken (a) great performance to win."

Forward Jack Whitman and guard Daniel Dixon each scored 13 points for William & Mary (2-2). Guard Omar Prewitt and reserve forward Nathan Knight had 11 points apiece.

Duke shot 50 percent from the field.

Duke led 46-30 at halftime with a late burst spearheaded, in part, by reserve forward Antonio Vrankovic. His dunk and tip-in in the final minute helped cap the half.

The Blue Devils held a 25-12 first-half rebounding edge.

"We have to get better," Shaver said, while pointing out there were encouraging stretches for his team. "We're going to get better."

Earlier, Duke went on a 12-0 run for a 21-13 lead. Matt Jones hit two 3-pointers during the spurt.

William & Mary's Paul Rowley made the basket for 3 and gave out a scream. He drained two more 3-pointers in the first half, putting him at 3 of 4 in the half on long-range shots, though he didn't score in the second half. The rest of the team was 1 of 10 on 3-pointers.

Dixon, a senior guard and the Tribe's scoring leader entering the game, picked up his second foul less than six minutes into the game, the latter coming on an offensive foul. He returned about four minutes later with Duke lead by eight.

Duke continued to play without the heralded freshman trio of Marques Bolden, Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum, all nursing injuries. There appeared to be progress because they were all in uniform, and Bolden and Giles took part in warm-ups.
