Freshman guard Maverick Rowan scored on a layup off an inbounds pass as time expired to give North Carolina State a 73-72 victory against visiting Boston College on Wednesday night at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C.

The Wolfpack scored 13 of the game's final 18 points for the comeback victory, keeping Boston College winless in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

N.C. State guard Anthony Barber, the ACC's scoring leader, was scoreless for the game's first 11 minutes but he finished with 24 points. Rowan scored all 13 of his points in the second half.

Forward Caleb Martin also had 13 points and forward Malik-Abdul Abu supplied 12 points for N.C. State (15-15, 5-12 ACC).

Center Dennis Clifford's 18 points and guard Eli Carter's 14 points paced Boston College (7-23, 0-17), which has lost 17 games in a row.

Guard Jerome Robinson, a freshman playing in his hometown, finished with 13 points and forward A.J. Turner added 11 points for the Eagles.

After the Eagles came up with the ball on a wild scramble for an offensive rebound, Robinson made the second of two free-throw attempts with 17 seconds left to push Boston College to a 72-71 lead.

N.C. State missed two shots before the ball went out of play along the baseline with 1.1 seconds remaining. The inbounds pass went to Rowan, who converted in the lane.

Boston College led 67-60 with less than five minutes to play.

Martin and Rowan hit back-to-back 3s to bounce the Wolfpack to within one. Rowan hit another for a 69-67 lead.

In the second half, N.C. State junior forward BeeJay Anya set a school career record for blocked shots by reaching 208.

Boston College broke open a one-point game to take a 33-20 lead late in the first half.

N.C. State closed to within 35-30 at halftime, with Barber scoring the Wolfpack's final seven points before the break.
