St. John’s 67, Marquette 51: Rysheed Jordan made five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 23 points as the visiting Red Storm defeated the Golden Eagles for their seventh win in the last eight games.

D’Angelo Harrison recorded 16 of his 21 points in the second half for St. John’s (21-9, 10-7 Big East), which made 12-of-24 from behind the 3-point arc. Phil Greene IV had 11 points and eight rebounds while Sir’Dominic Pointer scored 10 to go along with seven assists and a career-high 13 rebounds for the Red Storm.

Matt Carlino led the way with five 3-pointers and scored 17 for Marquette (11-18, 3-14), which has dropped six in a row and 12 out of its last 13 contests. Luke Fischer chipped in with 13 points and three blocks while Duane Wilson added eight points for the Golden Eagles, who shot 34.5 percent from the field.

Greene drained a 3-pointer during the surge as St. John’s scored 10 of the final 13 in the first half to snap a tie and build a 34-27 lead at intermission. Jordan scored 13 while Pointer added eight points, eight rebounds and four assists in the opening 20 minutes for the Red Storm.

Harrison made a 3-pointer to highlight a 6-0 surge early in the second half to push the lead to 10 and scored eight straight to make it 50-36 with just over 10 minutes to go. Marquette was able to get as close as nine, but consecutive 3-pointers by Harrison and Jordan made it 67-51 with just over two minutes left to seal it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. John’s G Jamal Branch (groin) missed the game and the Red Storm used only six players, getting zero points from F Amar Alibegovic off the bench. … Carlino has made at least three 3-pointers in nine of his last 10 games. … Red Storm F Chris Obekpa had four blocks and has recorded at least that amount 12 times this season.
