Arizona State 64, USC 59: Gerry Blakes had 12 points and eight rebounds as the host Sun Devils rallied from 10 points down with just under 10 minutes left to turn away the shorthanded Trojans.

Bo Barnes added 11 points off the bench for Arizona State (15-12, 7-7 Pac-12), which remained in seventh place in the conference standings, a half-game behind UCLA and Oregon State. Tra Holder and Shaquielle McKissic contributed 10 points apiece and Eric Jacobsen grabbed 10 rebounds for the Sun Devils, who shot 32.8 percent from the floor.

The Trojans played without second-leading scorer Jordan McLaughlin, who missed his third straight game with a shoulder injury, and third-leading scorer Katin Reinhardt was sent home, along with reserve guards Chass Bryan and Devon Pflueger, for violation of team rules, the school announced earlier in the day. Kahlil Dukes stepped in and scored a career-high 18 points off the bench to lead USC (10-17, 2-13), which has lost 11 of the last 12.

The Sun Devils came in having won 20 of their last 23 home games but the Trojans took their biggest lead at 51-41 on a jumper by Dukes with 9:53 left. The Sun Devils came back to tie the score at 56 on a 3-pointer by Holder with 2:02 remaining, and Jonathan Gilling’s 3-pointer with 44 seconds left continued the 12-0 run that eventually put the Sun Devils ahead by six with eight seconds on the clock.

Arizona State shot 29.6 percent in the first half and turned the ball over nine times but still came away with a 27-24 halftime lead. USC came back and took the biggest lead of the game for either team with a 3-pointer that pushed the Trojans ahead by eight points with 13:47 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC fell to 10-3 this season when leading with five minutes left. …. USC G Elijah Stewart, who came in fourth in the Pac-12 with 18 blocks in 14 games, blocked four shots. …. Dukes, a 6-foot sophomore guard, had reached double figures just one other time in the last two seasons, scoring 10 points last season against Utah.
