The Wildcats didn't score a point for the first six-plus minutes of both halves but got 11 points from T.J. McConnell and seven points and 10 rebounds from Stanley Johnson while holding UCLA to its second-lowest scoring total of the season.

The Bruins, however, scored the first 17 points of the second half to take a 35-32 lead but Arizona regained the lead on a pair of free throws by Johnson with 9:31 left and later extended the advantage to 49-43 with 4:41 left when Johnson hit his first field goal after eight misses. Johnson's basket was part of an 8-2 run and UCLA never got closer than four the rest of the way.
