No. 12 Louisville 55, Miami (Fla.) 53: Montrezl Harrell scored 21 points, including three free throws in the final minute, and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Cardinals edged the visiting Hurricanes.

Chris Jones, who returned from a one-game team suspension, contributed 14 of his 17 points in the second half as Louisville (21-6, 9-5 ACC) won despite shooting 33.9 percent from the field. Wayne Blackshear added 10 points while leading scorer Terry Rozier was limited to six on 3-of-15 from the floor for the Cardinals.

Sheldon McClellan led the way with 17 points for Miami (17-10, 7-7), which had a chance to win it in the final seconds but a 3-pointer by Angel Rodriguez fell short. Tonye Jekiri produced his third straight double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Hurricanes, who also turned the ball over twice in the final minute.

Miami scored nine of the first 10 points of the game and pushed the lead to 19-6 after a McClellan 3-pointer before settling for a 29-19 edge at intermission. Jones made two 3-pointers and scored 10 during a 17-3 spurt to open the second half as Louisville took a 36-32 lead.

The Hurricanes answered with 11 of the next 15 points for a 43-40 lead before the Cardinals regained the lead 50-49 on Jones’ jumper with 3:05 to go. Deandre Burnett scored the next four points for Miami, but Harrell’s two free throws with 35.6 seconds left put Louisville ahead 54-53 and he added another after a turnover with 10.1 ticks to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harrell was assessed a flagrant 1 technical foul late in the first half when he came down with a rebound clearly inbounds and threw the ball off Jekiri’s face. Jekiri missed the first 3:10 of the second half to reportedly have his eyes checked out. … Louisville managed only two assists to go along with 24.1 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes. … McClellan averaged 20.7 points while playing three games in six days this week, but Rodriguez finished 1-of-12 from the field Saturday and went 6-of-26 this week.
