Jordan Mickey recorded 14 points, six rebounds and a game-high four blocks for LSU (19-8, 8-6 SEC), which has won three of its last five games. Keith Hornsby added 12 points for the Tigers, who won despite a negligible 5-of-17 shooting performance from beyond the arc.

LSU stormed out of the gate, scoring the game's first 12 points on the way to a 22-9 advantage before a Jon Horford 3-pointer stopped the slide for Florida, kicking off a 13-0 run that pulled the Gators even with 3:44 left until halftime. Buckets from Robinson and Jacob Kurtz followed a Martin jumper to give Florida its first lead at 26-24 before the Tigers would close the period on a 9-0 run, capped by Martin's 3-pointer at the buzzer that gave LSU a 33-26 lead at the half.

After the break, Hornsby kicked things off with a 3-pointer and the Tigers roared ahead to a 47-31 lead with just over 13 minutes left to play. A jumper from Carter brought the Gators back to within 51-44 with eight minutes remaining, but LSU responded with 12 of the next 16 points, including a pair of Jalyn Patterson 3-pointers, staking the Tigers to a 63-48 advantage and in the final five minutes, Florida would get no closer than a six-point deficit.
