No. 23 Arkansas 71, Ole Miss 70: Manuale Watkins scored with 6.4 seconds left as the visiting Razorbacks snapped the Rebels’ six-game winning streak.

Michael Qualls had 15 points and nine rebounds while Anton Beard added 14 points for Arkansas (20-5, 9-3 SEC), which has won four straight games and seven of its last eight. Bobby Portis collected 12 points, five rebounds and four blocks to help the Razorbacks move past Ole Miss and take over sole possession of second place in the SEC.

M.J. Rhett and Stefan Moody led Ole Miss (17-8, 8-4) with 16 points apiece while Martavious Newby grabbed 11 rebounds and scored seven points. LaDarius White scored eight points off the bench for the Rebels, who held a 45-31 rebounding edge but lost when Jarvis Summers’ final shot missed the mark at the buzzer.

Arkansas forced eight turnovers in the first half and led 40-36 at the break despite not attempting a free throw. Rashad Madden, who assisted on Watkins’ game-winning shot, drained a 3-pointer with just over 11 minutes left to push the Razorbacks’ lead to 57-52 before the Rebels answered with a 12-2 run to move ahead by five with 5:13 remaining.

Qualls scored with just over three minutes left and Alandise Harris followed with two free throws to cut the deficit to 68-67, but Ole Miss moved ahead by three on Dwight Coleby’s two foul shots. Madden scored on Arkansas’ next possession and Qualls grabbed a defensive rebound with 28 seconds left to set up Watkins’ dramatic shot near the basket.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Madden scored 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting and became the 36th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. … Beard was 5-of-5 shooting and contributed four assists before fouling out with 2:21 remaining. … Arkansas was 9-of-20 from 3-point range compared to 5-of-20 for Ole Miss.
