Wake Forest 72, Miami (Fla.) 70: Freshman Konstantinos Mitoglou drained six 3-pointers and scored 21 points as the Demon Deacons pulled out an ACC win over the visiting Hurricanes.

Mitoglou also grabbed eight rebounds while Darius Leonard had 14 points and seven boards off the bench for Wake Forest (12-13, 4-8 ACC). Devin Thomas added 13 points while Codi Miller-McIntyre totaled eight points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Demon Deacons, who won for the third time in four games.

Davon Reed registered 17 points, a career-high five steals and four rebounds while Angel Rodriguez recorded 15 points but missed a chance to send the game into overtime for Miami (15-9, 5-6). Sheldon McClellan notched 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Hurricanes.

The first half featured a combined 32 attempts from 3-point range, with the Demon Deacons making 11, including five by Mitoglou, to take a 42-33 lead into intermission. Wake Forest tried just one 3-pointer in the opening 10-plus minutes of the second half, but still managed to take a 54-42 lead behind jumpers from Leonard and Greg McClinton.

Rodriguez scored six straight points and James Palmer made back-to-back layups to put the Hurricanes up 62-61 with 7 1/2 minutes remaining and the lead stood at 68-64 when Mitoglou hit a 3-pointer to end a field-goal drought of more than seven minutes for Wake Forest. Miller-McIntyre converted a three-point play to surpass 1,000 points for his career and Thomas hit a basket to put the Deacons in front before Rodriguez missed a driving layup at the buzzer, preserving the win for Wake Forest.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Wake Forest finished the first half 11-of-18 beyond the arc, while Miami made 5-of-14, including a pair by Reed. ... The Demon Deacons held a 37-29 rebounding edge and posted 18 assists, including four by reserve G Madison Jones. ... Freshman G Mitchell Wilbekin had nine points and three assists for Wake Forest.
