Davon Reed tied career highs with five 3-pointers and 19 points for Miami (14-8, 4-5), which has dropped a season-worst three straight contests. Tonye Jekiri posted his fourth double-double in conference play with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Harrell, Rozier and Blackshear each scored five points during a game-opening 19-6 surge as Miami hit only three of its first 14 shots before Reed and Ivan Cruz Uceda bookended a 9-2 push with 3-pointers. The Hurricanes fell behind by 13 early in the second half, but Reed drilled three consecutive triples during a personal 9-0 run after intermission to help Miami close within 43-40.

The Cardinals shot 68.2 percent in the first half, but misfired on 10 of their first 13 field-goal attempts after the break before Rozier took over, scoring 12 straight points for Louisville to hold off the Hurricanes, who drew within three points three more times. Blackshear’s jumper with just under two minutes left answered Miami’s final foray and Jones drained five of Louisville’s seven free throws over the final 1:13 to preserve the victory.
