DePaul 87, Stanford 72: Myke Henry scored a career high 29 points and the host Blue Demons withstood a Cardinal rally in the second half to secure the victory.

Henry entered the game averaging 16 points but shot 12-for-18 and has scored 53 points in back-to-back games for DePaul (3-1). Jamee Crockett scored 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Tommy Hamilton IV added 14 points and seven rebounds for DePaul, who rebounded from an 86-74 loss to Lehigh.

Chasson Randle and Stefan Nastic led five Stanford players in double figures with 16 points. Anthony Brown scored 15 points with a game-high 11 rebounds, Reid Travis added 12 and Rosco Allen 10 for the Cardinal (4-2).

DePaul ended the first half on a 14-4 run and took a 41-30 lead into intermission. Stanford cut DePaul’s lead to 34-30 after Randle made a layup, then the Blue Demons answered with a Henry jumper, a 3-pointer by Aaron Simpson followed by a two-handed dunk by Henry just before halftime.

Stanford started the second half shooting 1-of-7 and DePaul took advantage by building a 47-32 lead after Crockett connected on an off-balance layup. Brown led a Cardinal surge and converted a three-point play after a steal and layup to trim the lead to 60-55, but the Blue Demons added a free throw by Henry and a 3-pointer by Simpson to push the advantage back to 64-55.

GAME NOTEBOOK: This game was scheduled as a homecoming for Randle, who starred at Rock Island High School in Rock Island, Ill. … DePaul had seven steals by seven different players in the first half and finished the game with 12 with Durrell McDonald recording four. … Stanford went 38 minutes without any bench points until Dorian Pickens converted a three-point play.
