No. 8 Virginia 51, Pittsburgh 48: Joe Harris led a balanced offense with 12 points as the Cavaliers edged the Panthers in the semifinals of the ACC tournament in Greensboro, N.C.

Justin Anderson sealed it by blocking James Robinson’s 3-point attempt in the final seconds for top-seeded Virginia (27-6), which will play Duke in Sunday's championship game. Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gill scored 10 points apiece while Akil Mitchell added eight points and eight rebounds for the Cavaliers.

Talib Zanna led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds for No. 5 seed Pittsburgh (25-9), which was held to 36.7 percent shooting overall and 3-of-14 from 3-point range. Lamar Patterson chipped in with 15 points and seven boards for the Panthers, playing in their first ACC tournament.

Zanna scored 12 in the first half as Pittsburgh led by three before Virginia finished with an 8-3 burst, including 3-pointers by Harris and London Perrantes, for a 26-24 edge at intermission. The Panthers pulled within one before consecutive baskets by Brogdon and Mitchell pushed the lead to 37-32 early in the second half.

The advantage rose to eight after Gill’s basket with less than 10 minutes left, but Pittsburgh scored five straight to get within 45-42 with 4:25 to go. Patterson’s layup and a Robinson basket after a steal with 10 seconds remaining trimmed Virginia’s lead to 49-48 before Gill made two free throws and Anderson’s block ended it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia will make its first appearance in the ACC final since 1994 when it lost to North Carolina 73-66. The Cavaliers won their only ACC tournament title in 1976. … Zanna was 21-of-31 from the field with 51 points and 39 rebounds in three ACC tournament games. … The Cavaliers have held 20 straight opponents to less than 50 percent shooting.
