Virginia 83, Missouri State 63: Justin Anderson scored 17 of his season-high 23 points in the first half to lead the hot-shooting Cavaliers to the Corpus Christi Challenge championship.

Joe Harris added 15 points as Virginia (7-1) shot 56.6 percent from the field and made nine of its first 10 field-goal attempts in the second half. Mike Tobey scored 14 points while Malcolm Brogdon recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists to help the Cavaliers hold a 38-22 rebounding edge.

Jarmar Gulley and Gavin Thurman scored 14 points apiece for the Bears (6-1), who reached the final with a 73-67 victory over Texas A&M on Friday. Virginia became the first team to shoot 50 percent or better from the field against Missouri State, which held its previous six opponents to 41.4 percent from the floor.

Anderson, who scored only four points in Virginia's 76-73 victory over Southern Methodist in Friday's semifinals, was 7-for-8 from the floor and made three of his four 3-point attempts to help the Cavaliers take a 32-22 lead at the break. Anderson scored eight straight Virginia points on one occasion and seven on another.

Harris' dunk as part of a three-point play highlighted a 10-3 run to start the second half and Anderson's first bucket after intermission put Virginia ahead 47-32 with 15:41 left. The Bears never got closer than 13 the rest of the way while the Cavaliers led by as many as 27.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The game's first free throw was taken with 1:01 left in the first half as the teams combined for only four fouls prior to the break. The teams finished a combined 27-for-45 from the line. ... The Bears were 10-for-24 from 3-point range and 10-for-24 from inside the arc. ... The Cavaliers host No. 11 Wisconsin on Wednesday.
