No. 4 Duke 93, No. 14 North Carolina 81: Freshman forward Jabari Parker scored a season-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Blue Devils ended the visiting Tar Heels’ 12-game winning streak.

Rodney Hood added 24 points for Duke (24-7, 13-5 ACC), which moved into a tie for third in conference play with North Carolina and can finish in a three-way tie for second if Syracuse loses to Florida State on Sunday. Quinn Cook led the Blue Devil reserves with 11 points and six assists.

Marcus Paige scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half for North Carolina (23-8, 13-5), which lost despite shooting 59.6 percent from the floor. Brice Johnson added 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench, James Michael McAdoo contributed 13 points and Leslie McDonald finished with 12 for the Tar Heels.

North Carolina fell behind 17-4 before finding some traction behind Johnson, who scored eight points in a little more than three minutes before his layup eventually cut the deficit to two with 1:51 left in the opening half. Despite shooting 61.9 percent from the floor, North Carolina still trailed 40-37 at the half.

McAdoo picked up his fourth foul in the opening minute of the second half and that seemed to take the wind out of North Carolina’s sails as Duke scored 10 of the first 12 points of the second half to re-establish a double-digit lead at 50-39. The Tar Heels got as close as eight on a four-point play by Paige with 2:49 remaining but the Blue Devils closed out the win at the free throw line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Duke has won 33 straight home games, the longest active streak in Division I. … Duke has trailed at the half just once this season. … Parker scored at least 20 points for the 16th time this season, three behind former Georgia Tech standout Kenny Anderson for the most by an ACC freshman.
