North Carolina State 74, Pittsburgh 67: T.J. Warren scored 26 of his career-high 41 points in the second half as the visiting Wolfpack rallied to beat the Panthers.

Warren, the ACC’s leading scorer, made 16-of-22 from the field and added four steals for North Carolina State (18-12, 8-9 ACC), which trailed by as many as 13 in the first half. Lennard Freeman contributed 10 points and eight rebounds while Anthony Barber had nine points and five assists for the Wolfpack.

Freshman Josh Newkirk led the way with a career-high 20 points as Pittsburgh (22-8, 10-7) lost for the fifth time in the last six home games. Lamar Patterson recorded 17 points and six assists while Talib Zanna added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers.

Newkirk made three 3-pointers and scored 11 in the first half as Pittsburgh led by 13 before the Wolfpack scored the final eight – six by Freeman – to close within 36-31 at intermission. Warren scored 15 points in the first eight minutes of the second half, capped by a 3-pointer that gave North Carolina State a 51-46 lead.

The Panthers trimmed the lead to one four times, the fourth on a Michael Young 3-pointer that made it 66-65 with 3:30 left, before Warren drained another from behind the arc. Pittsburgh closed within two, but Warren scored in the lane, Freeman made one free throw and Warren’s dunk sealed it with 21.5 seconds to go.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Warren has scored at least 30 points in eight games this season, including three of the last four. … Patterson played in his 142nd career game, moving into second in Pittsburgh history and one behind the all-time leader Sam Young. … North Carolina State has won 10 of 12 games in the series – splitting a pair this season. It was the first meeting at Pittsburgh since 1971.
