No. 14 Michigan State 94, Purdue 79: Gary Harris and Adreian Payne combined for 48 points, including 10 3-pointers, as the Spartans made a school-record 17 shots from behind the arc in a rout of the host Boilermakers.

Harris was 6-of-9 from 3-point range en route to 25 points while Payne made half of his eight 3-pointers and scored 23. Travis Trice (4-of-6) also was on fire from long range and three other players made a 3-pointer for Michigan State (22-5, 11-3 Big Ten), although Keith Appling was not one of them, finishing with one point and nine assists off the bench in his first action after missing three games with a wrist injury.

Kendall Stephens caught some of the 3-point fever, connecting on 4-of-5 attempts for Purdue as part of his team-high 19 points. Ronnie Johnson had 17 points and Rapheal Davis chipped in 13 for the Boilermakers (15-11, 5-8), who made half of their 14 3-pointers but still lost for the sixth time in eight games.

Michigan State, which scored only 51 points in a loss versus Nebraska over the weekend, had 49 at halftime of this one following a period in which the team went 13-of-19 from 3-point range - and only 1-of-3 from inside the arc - and had 13 assists on its 14 field goals. Harris scored 19 points in the first half and Payne had 13 as the Spartans led 49-38 at the break.

Payne scored the first eight Michigan State points of the second half, including a three-point play and another 3-pointer, and the visitors led by double digits the rest of the way. Trice added two more 3-pointers in the final six minutes for the Spartans, who finished 17-of-32 from 3-point range and dished out 26 assists on their 30 baskets.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The 17 3-pointers by Michigan State also set a record for most allowed by Purdue. ... Denzel Valentine was 7-of-7 from the foul line and chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals for the Spartans. ... Trice finished with 14 points and six assists for Michigan State, which has alternated wins and losses in each of its last nine games.
