Arkansas 81, LSU 70: Rashad Madden had 21 points and five assists to help the host Razorbacks knock off the Tigers in SEC play.

Coty Clarke added 16 points and nine rebounds while Bobby Portis had 15, eight and four steals for Arkansas (16-9, 5-7). Michael Qualls chipped in 13 points as the Razorbacks improved to 13-2 at home.

Johnny O’Bryant III scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds before fouling out for LSU (15-9, 6-6). Andre Stringer added 13 points for the Tigers, who dropped to 2-6 on the road.

LSU trailed 70-66 after O’Bryant’s basket with under four minutes to play, but Arkansas pushed the lead back to nine on a 3-pointer by Clarke and Portis’ basket off a behind-the-back lob from Madden. The advantage eventually reached 14 as the Razorbacks avenged an 88-74 loss at LSU earlier this month.

Arkansas jumped out to a 14-4 lead over the first four-plus minutes and settled for a 37-33 edge at the break. The Tigers finally caught the Razorbacks at 50 on Hickey’s 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes to play and possessed a 57-54 advantage on O’Bryant’s dunk midway through the half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Madden was 12-of-14 from the free-throw line while reaching 20 points for the fifth time this season. … O’Bryant (1,010) became the 40th player in LSU history to record 1,000 career points. … The Razorbacks were 10-of-17 from 3-point range, while LSU was 6-of-24.
