No. 6 Villanova 87, DePaul 62: Darrun Hilliard II scored 22 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Wildcats overpowered the Blue Demons to record their six consecutive victory.

James Bell added 16 points and eight rebounds while JayVaughn Pinkston chipped in with 14 points and a game-high 11 boards for Villanova (22-2, 10-1 Big East), which shot 55.1 percent from the floor. Ryan Arcidiacono contributed 14 points and six assists while Kris Jenkins scored 11 points in a reserve role for the Wildcats, who finished with a season-high 15 3-pointers.

Brandon Young led the way with 27 points and three steals for DePaul (10-15, 2-10), which has lost seven games in a row. Sandi Marcius added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Blue Demons, who shot 37 percent from the field.

Bell, the reigning Big East Player of the Week, sparked an 11-0 run to give Villanova a 37-22 lead and the Wildcats knocked down eight 3-pointers in the first half to go up 48-31 at the break. It was more of the same in the second stanza as Hilliard keyed a 13-3 burst to put Villanova on top by 27 with 16:15 remaining.

Marcius converted a three-point play to trim the deficit to 21 before Jenkins nailed two straight triples to put the Wildcats in firm control at 70-45. Villanova never let its lead slip below 20 points the rest of the way en route to its seventh consecutive victory over DePaul.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Villanova improved to 18-0 when scoring 70 points or more. … The Wildcats started off 8-of-8 from the free-throw line before finishing 18-of-20. … DePaul went 4-of-14 from 3-point range and has hit at least one triple in 636 straight games.
