Memphis 101, Rutgers 69: Austin Nichols scored 18 points - two off of his career high - as the Tigers dominated the visiting Scarlet Knights from the outset to win an American Athletic Conference game.

The freshman forward made 8-of-9 from the field in 26 minutes of action and Joe Jackson had 16 points and eight assists for the Tigers (17-5, 7-3 AAC), who shot 59 percent in tying their season high in points. Michael Dixon Jr. contributed 15 points off the bench and Shaq Goodwin, Chris Crawford and Geron Johnson also reached double figures in scoring for Memphis.

Kadeem Jack registered 12 points and six rebounds for the Scarlet Knights (9-14, 3-7), who couldn't sustain the momentum gained from Saturday's impressive win over Houston. Myles Mack and Craig Brown supplied nine points each for Rutgers.

The Tigers needed less than eight minutes in the first half to post a 20-point lead as Nichols scored 11 points and Jackson had seven to key a 21-2 run that gave Memphis a 25-5 advantage. Crawford hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Johnson added one of his own as the Tigers went up 40-12 en route to a 56-21 lead at intermission.

A layup by Goodwin at the midway point of the second half gave the Tigers an 80-45 lead that later grew to 40 points with just over seven minutes left. Goodwin had 13 points and six rebounds, Johnson added 12 points and five assists and Crawford had 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Tigers made 10 of their first 13 field goal attempts and finished 22-of-33 in the first half while the Scarlet Knights struggled, going 2-of-10 and 6-of-24, respectively. ... The Tigers will play their fifth ranked team of the season when they travel to No.20 Gonzaga for a non-conference game Saturday ... Memphis finished 12-of-19 from beyond the arc and 17-of-21 from the foul line.
