Manu Lecomte added 13 points for Miami (11-10), which connected on 8-of-22 3-pointers. Garrius Adams chipped in 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes while Donnavan Kirk added 10 points, seven boards and three blocks.

Pendarvis Williams led Norfolk State (12-10) with 21 points but was 3-of-11 from 3-point range. Brandon Goode scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Spartans, who didn't have another player score more than four points.

The Hurricanes led for much of the first half, including an eight-point advantage with just over 10 minutes to play in the half. The Spartans responded with a 9-0 run — including seven by Williams — to take their only lead of the game, but Miami closed on a 13-2 run to take a 10-point lead into the break.

The Hurricanes continued to hold a comfortable lead for much of the second half, though Norfolk State pulled within 10 with 6:32 to go in the game. But Brown hit a 3-pointer to start a 5-0 run and the Spartans never got that close again.
