Miami (Fla.) 56, Georgia Tech 42: Freshman Manu Lecomte scored a career-high 16 points and the visiting Hurricanes rode a 15-0 run and strong defense to their fifth victory in the past seven games.

Donnavan Kirk added 14 points for Miami (10-7, 2-3 ACC) which shot 50 percent from the field in the first half while building a 27-17 halftime advantage. Rion Brown finished with 12 points with six rebounds.

Trae Golden scored 12 points to lead Georgia Tech (10-8, 1-4), which endured a miserable day offensively. The Yellow Jackets went more than nine minutes of the first half without a field goal, shooting 5-for-19 from the field in the opening half and a season-worst 29.5 percent overall.

Kammeon Holsey’s basket with 12:57 to play in the opening half brought the Yellow Jackets within 12-9, but Georgia Tech would not score again from the field until Quinton Stephens hit a 3-pointer with 3:23 left to cut Miami’s lead to 19-17. Erik Swoope scored the next four points as Miami closed the first half on an 8-0 run, taking a 10-point lead into the locker room.

Brown hit a layup and a 3-pointer in the first four minutes of the second half as the Hurricanes scored the first seven points to push their advantage to 34-17. The Yellow Jackets finally got going on offense late in the half, drawing within 44-35 on two Daniel Miller free throws with 5:23 to play before Miami sealed the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami has won 12 of its past 20 conference road games and has beaten the Yellow Jackets in four of the past five meetings. … Holsey went 3-for-4 from the field in the opening half; the rest of the Yellow Jackets combined to shoot 2-for-15. … Miami finished 3-for-14 from 3-point range, while Georgia Tech shot 4-for-20.
