No. 4 Wisconsin 95, Illinois 70: Ben Brust scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as the Badgers remained unbeaten with a dominant win over the visiting Illini.

Sam Dekker had 17 points and Frank Kaminsky and Traevon Jackson added 15 apiece for Wisconsin (16-0, 3-0 Big Ten), which is off to the best start in school history. Nigel Hayes chipped in 11 points to help the Badgers post their sixth straight win over the Illini.

Rayvonte Rice led Illinois (13-3, 2-1) with 19 points and nine rebounds while Joseph Bertrand had 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting and nine rebounds. Wisconsin shot 56.1 percent against the Illini, who entered the game ranked third in the Big Ten in scoring defense.

The Badgers, who began the day as one of the nation’s five remaining unbeaten teams, scored 20 unanswered points during the first half and led 50-25 at the break. The Illini never threatened in the second half and trailed 71-44 after Brust hit one of his four 3-pointers with just under 11 minutes remaining.

Illinois opened Big Ten play with wins over Indiana and Penn State, but the Illini were overwhelmed by Wisconsin’s stifling defense and shot just 31.6 percent from the field. Nnanna Egwu had a game-high 10 boards for Illinois, which was routed despite outrebounding the Badgers 48-35.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wisconsin scored at least 90 points in a regulation Big Ten game for the first time since posting a 97-73 win over Northwestern in January 1995. … Illinois lost for the first time in 10 games this season when scoring at least 70 points. … Wisconsin improved to 93-11 at home against Big Ten opponents under coach Bo Ryan.
