No. 13 Duke 79, Georgia Tech 57: Rodney Hood scored 27 points to lead five players in double figures as the host Blue Devils rebounded from losing their ACC opener.

Hood hit five 3-pointers, Quinn Cook scored 13 points and Jabari Parker overcame another subpar shooting performance to score 12 points for Duke (12-3, 1-1). The Blue Devils, who lost Saturday at Notre Dame to snap a five-game winning streak, shot 22-for-25 from the free-throw line and pulled away from the Yellow Jackets (9-6, 0-2) in the second half.

Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 18 points to lead Georgia Tech, which shot 53.6 percent from the field in the first half before losing for the third time in four games. Daniel Miller finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, who missed all six of their free-throw attempts.

The Blue Devils used a 14-5 spurt in the opening 3 ½ minutes of the second half to expand a one-point halftime lead to a 48-38 advantage on Rasheed Sulaimon’s 3-pointer. Trae Golden’s basket with 12:14 to play brought Georgia Tech within 54-48, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Hood capped a 12-2 spurt that pushed the Duke cushion to 66-50 with 6 1/2 minutes left.

Duke built a six-point advantage six minutes into the contest, but Georges-Hunt scored 11 points before halftime to keep the Yellow Jackets close. Miller tied the game at 31 on a jumper with 1:36 remaining, and Chris Bolden’s basket with nine seconds to go brought Georgia Tech within 34-33 at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Parker shot 4-for-12 after going 2-for-10 against Notre Dame. … Georgia Tech was outrebounded 33-25, the first time this season the Yellow Jackets have been outrebounded. … Duke improved to 22-1 in games following a loss, dating back to 2009-10.
