No. 1 Arizona 60, Washington State 25: Kaleb Tarczewski scored a game-high 11 points as the host Wildcats held the short-handed Cougars to their fewest points in nearly 76 years in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.

Aaron Gordon had five points and 10 rebounds as Arizona (14-0) remained one of seven undefeated teams in the nation while allowing the fewest points in McHale Center history. The Wildcats, sixth in the country in scoring defense, limited Washington State to 20 percent shooting while winning their seventh straight in the series.

It was a disastrous night for Washington State (7-6), which played without leading scorer DaVonte Lacy, who had his appendix removed Saturday, and Dexter Kernich-Drew, who suffered a concussion in the Cougars' last game. Junior Longrus paced Washington State, which didn't hit a field goal for more than 13 minutes to start the game and trailed 28-7 at the break, with six points.

Arizona led 38-9 with 13 minutes left when Will Dilorio sank Washington's State first 3-pointer to get the Cougars into double digits. Washington State also lost starting center Jordan Railey with a head injury and Royce Woolridge to cramps in the second half, but both returned.

Washington State last reached this level of futility in a 35-25 loss to Idaho on Jan. 15, 1938. Northern Arizona held the previous McKale Center record for fewest points in an 84-37 loss to the Wildcats in 1989.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona has outrebounded every team this season and won the battle on the boards against Washington State 42-28. ... Nick Johnson needs 69 points to reach 1,000 for his career. ... Arizona matched last season's mark of 14-0 as the second best in program history.
