Colorado 67, Colorado State 62: Spencer Dinwiddie poured in a season-high 28 points as the visiting Buffaloes continued their strong start to the season by defeating their in-state rival.

Askia Booker contributed 12 points and Jaron Hopkins had 10 off the bench as Colorado (8-1) won its eighth straight game following a season-opening loss to Baylor. Dinwiddie, whose career high of 29 came in last year's win over Colorado State, finished this one 8-of-14 from the field and 11-of-11 from the foul line.

J.J. Avila scored 16 points and Daniel Bejarano had 15 for the Rams (6-3), who had won 21 consecutive home games against non-conference opponents and 30 straight home games against unranked opponents. Colorado State ultimately was doomed by 33.3 percent shooting and 18 turnovers, not to mention a huge missed free throw by Avila in the final minute.

With Colorado trailing 55-52, Hopkins made a pair of 3-pointers sandwiched around two free throws by Colorado State to put the Buffaloes ahead 58-57 with 3:39 to play. Bejarano's foul shot tied it 24 seconds later, but Dinwiddie answered with a three-point play and another layup to give Colorado a 63-58 edge.

Avila went to the foul line with 24 seconds left but missed the second one, leaving the Rams one point shy of the Buffaloes. Dinwiddie then knocked down a pair of free throws before Avila missed a 3-pointer and Booker went 2-of-2 from the line to seal the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bejarano and Avila each scored nine points in the first half as the Rams led 34-30 at intermission. ... Dinwiddie, Booker and Josh Scott combined for the Buffaloes' first 20 points of the second half. ... The collective 3-point shooting was horrendous, as Colorado shot 3-of-19 from behind the arc, while Colorado State wasn't much better at 3-of-14.
