Texas 72, Texas-Arlington 69: Demarcus Holland scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the host Longhorns came from behind to beat the Mavericks.

Holland scored 16 of his points in the second half, Prince Ibeh had a season-high 11 points and five blocked shots off the bench, Cameron Ridley added 10 points and six blocks and Isaiah Taylor had 10 points for Texas (6-1). The Longhorns outscored the Mavericks, 39-28, in the second half as Texas shot 52 percent after a frigid first half.

Reger Dowell, the nation's 12th-leading scorer, was held to 17 points on 30 percent shooting from the floor — the first time he has scored under 20 this season for Texas-Arlington (2-6). Brandon Edwards added 16 points and seven rebounds, Jamel Outler had 14 points off the bench and Lonnie McClanahan finished with 13.

After trailing throughout the second half, the Longhorns put together a 10-1 run behind Holland's six points to take a 63-61 lead with 5:47 remaining. The two teams traded baskets until a Holland dunk put the Longhorns ahead to stay at 70-69 as the Mavericks went scoreless over the final two minutes of the game.

Off to its worst start in eight seasons, Texas-Arlington played a strong first half in its fourth straight road game, limiting Texas to 40 percent shooting from the floor and 1-for-10 from beyond the arc in the Longhorns' lowest-scoring first half this season. McClanahan and Outler tallied 10 points for Texas-Arlington, which ran off the final six points before the intermission to take a 41-33 lead at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Holland scored in double figures for the second straight game. ... The Mavericks had at least four scorers in double figures for the fifth game this season. ... Texas improved to 9-0 in the all-time series.
