No. 20 Connecticut 77, Boston University 60: DeAndre Daniels scored a season-high 24 points as the host Huskies used a second-half run to beat the Terriers in the second phase of the 2K Sports Classic.

Shabazz Napier added 12 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for Connecticut (4-0), which went 8-for-17 from 3-point range. Ryan Boatright added 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

D.J. Irving led Boston University (2-1) with 17 points. Leading scorer Dom Morris scored just 13 on 4-of-11 shooting but grabbed a team-best nine rebounds while Maurice Watson Jr. chipped in 13 points.

Daniels scored eight of the Huskies’ first 10 points and 14 of 17 as Connecticut ran out to a 19-4 lead 7:44 into regulation. Three Irving 3-pointers keyed a Terriers turnaround as they scored the last 12 points of the opening frame to pull within 37-32 at halftime.

Two John Papale 3-pointers and five Irving points pushed Boston University in front 43-42 with 17:37 to play before Amida Brimah’s three-point play sparked a 23-4 Huskies jaunt. Boatright and Daniels threw in dunks near the start of the pivotal spurt, Napier made back-to-back 3s and Brimah capped it with a layup to make the score 70-51 with 6:02 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Connecticut has won 41 straight games at Gampel Pavilion against non-conference opponents. … Daniels’ previous season high was 11 after scoring 26 last season. … Cedric Hankerson came off the bench to score nine points for Boston University.
