Michigan 61, Syracuse 56:
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 points and Mitch McGary collected 10 points, 12 rebounds and six assists as the Wolverines held off the Orange in the NCAA Final Four at Atlanta.

Glenn Robinson III added 10 points for No. 4 seed Michigan (31-7), which will face top overall seed Louisville in the National Championship Game on Monday.

James Southerland buried a 3-pointer with 41 seconds left to pull Syracuse within 57-56 but senior guard Brandon Triche was called for an offensive foul with a chance to put his team on top. The Orange had one last opportunity to tie the game but Trevor Cooney missed a wild runner and the Wolverines turned it into a dunk at the other end to seal the win.

C.J. Fair scored 22 points and Triche had 11 in his final college game for Syracuse (30-10).

The Wolverines had little trouble with Syracuse’s 3-2 zone in the first half as McGary and Hardaway Jr. handed out four assists apiece in the opening period to help grab a 36-25 lead at the break. Trey Burke and Spike Albrecht each hit a 3-pointer from 30 feet to help expand the zone and open lanes for McGary and Robinson III.

Michigan held a 43-32 lead after Burke found McGary for a dunk with 15:10 left before the Orange started tightening up the zone. The Wolverines went 1-for-7 from the floor and turned the ball over twice in the next six minutes.

Fair scored five points on a 9-2 run to help cut it to 45-41, and his jumper with 7:53 to play drew Syracuse within 48-45.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Burke, who was named National Player of the Year this week, went 1-for-8 from the field. … Syracuse G Michael Carter-Williams is expected to be a first-round NBA draft pick like Burke but went 1-of-6 from the field and had five turnovers with only two assists before fouling out with 1:14 left. … Michigan missed 4-of-6 free throws in the final 48 seconds to keep the Orange in the game.
