No. 18 UNLV 82, Iowa State 70: Freshman Anthony Bennett scored a game-high 22 points and the Runnin’ Rebels rebounded from their first loss of the year in the consolation round of the Global Sports Classic at the Thomas & Mack Center.

UNLV (3-1) led 36-34 at the half but didn’t take the lead for good until Katin Reinhardt hit a pair of free throws to give the Rebels a 40-39 advantage with 16:52 to play.

Iowa State (4-2) dropped its second straight contest. The Cyclones were led by Will Clyburn with 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Tyrus McGee hit a 3-pointer as Iowa State closed the gap to 65-60 with 4:25 to play but the Cyclones never got closer the rest of the way.

Anthony Marshall had 16 points and eight rebounds and Mike Moser chipped in with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Rebels, who were ranked in the preseason Top 25 for the first time in more than a decade.

GAME NOTEBOOK: UNLV saw its 20-game home winning streak come to an end against Oregon on Friday night. The Cyclones lost to No. 20 Cincinnati. … The Rebels made an effort to get the ball inside. They were 4-for-10 from 3-point range after launching 30 3-point attempts against Oregon and making only eight. …Melvin Ejim had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Iowa State. …The Rebels outscored the Cyclones 28-8 at the free throw line.
